Jonathan the Giant Tortoise

This is Jonathan. He turned approximately 188 years old last week. Unfortunately I cant credit the post as I scrolled too fast and then couldn’t find it again - I resorted to Google and came across his Wikipedia page!

Jonathan is a Seychelles 🇸🇨 Giant Tortoise and lives on the island of Saint Helena, within the grounds of Plantation House, the residence of the Governor and is cared for by the government 🇬🇧

According to Wikipedia his exact age is not really known. He arrived on Saint Helena in 1882 and was considered ‘fully mature’ (at least 50 years old) along with two other tortoise’s.

It is believed he is the oldest known living terrestrial animal in the world 🌎 👽

He has featured in numerous photos over the years, a BBC episode and is even on the face of a Saint Helena 5 pence coin!

I feel old now let alone living for another 100+ years!
